Tornadoes Stumble, Lose to Beavers
|
With third baseman Anuvaha Tasha leading the charge, the Portland Beavers defeated the Kansas City Tornadoes, 9-4, at Debris Field. Tasha, who is tied for 6th in the TML in RBI with 21, was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Kent Williams, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Tornadoes to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 0. The save was credited to Daryl Harrison, his 1st.
Tied up with the Tornadoes in the top of the fourth, the Beavers got a boost from second baseman Freddy Garza. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Garza saw a first pitch sinker from Francisco Rolón and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Portland on top, 4-3.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Tasha said. "We did a pretty good job of that today."
The win pushes Portland to a record of 15-13.
