Red Bulls Waste Great Game from Prince
|
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats outlasted Ken Prince and the Riverside Red Bulls, 13-12. Prince was impressive in the loss. The Riverside left fielder belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 8. José Barrachina got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 4. Hidekazu Komatsu closed it out for his 3rd save.
With Buzzard's Bay trailing 4-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Beetlecats struck gold when shortstop Bill Hinkle turned a 0-2 slider from Chuk-yan Chio into his 1st home run of the season. The hit scored 3 and put Buzzard's Bay up, 5-4.
Riverside manager Joe Ward said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."
The win leaves Buzzard's Bay with a record of 3-1.
