Temple beat West Coast at Goers Field, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Bartolo Rodríguez, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Temple, now 2-3, is off to a slow start.
Momentum swung to the Goers in the bottom of the fifth, when Rodríguez hit a 2-run double. It propelled the Goers into the lead, 4-3.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said West Coast manager John Griffin.
