Caterpillars Come Up Short at Chicago
|
In a tight contest at The War Dome, the Chicago Titans edged the Peoria Caterpillars by the score of 8-7. Chicago right fielder Eric Humphrey, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Chicago reliever Robert Limby got the win, raising his record to 2-2. Evan Blandford was tagged with the loss. Jeff Christopher earned the save for Chicago, his 7th of the year.
Had Humphrey not come through in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Humphrey hit a 2-run home run. The Titans never looked back after taking the 8-7 lead.
"Good win for us," said Humphrey. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
The Titans improved to 54-62.
