Alexander Helps Argonauts Run Win Streak to 5
|
The Astoria Argonauts topped the Bronx Bombers by the score of 8-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Wes Alexander. Alexander was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 6 for the Argonauts on the day. Astoria has a 5-game win streak, while Bronx has lost 3 in a row.
Alexander contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Astoria in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 4-2, Alexander took a fastball from Bob Alexander and stroked the double to left-center. His 7th double of the season allowed the Argonauts to leap in front, 5-4.
"We came out aggressive," said Astoria Argonauts manager Toin Furukawa. "We came out swinging the bats."
