Raiders Come Up Short at Joplin
|
The Joplin Fireballs scored a 7-6 win versus the Reno Raiders at The Firepit. Joplin third baseman Eduardo López nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. The win was credited to Patrick Johnson in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Orinosuke Matsuoka took the loss. Balamitra Sriramesh converted his 27th save in 29 tries.
Chad Wright had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh for the Fireballs. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Joplin trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run single.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," López told the Joplin Times.
The Reno losing streak has now reached 4 games.
