Freedom Fall to .500 After Loss to Canadians
|
Vancouver beat Philadelphia at The Bell, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Pepe Trevino, who earned player of the game honors. Trevino, now 9-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Steve Strickland got the save, his 9th in 11 chances.
Vancouver catcher Phillip Lewis helped the Canadians go up, 4-2, in the top of the fifth inning. With the game tied, Lewis hit a 2-run double off Philadelphia pitcher António Navarro.
"This was a good win," said Lewis.
Vancouver, now 57-48, holds third place in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
