Rafiq hits 2 home runs to Pull Fireballs to .500
|
Abraha Rafiq was the difference-maker for the Joplin Fireballs in what turned into a shootout with the Antioch Coal Miners. Rafiq earned the player of the game award after going 2-for-4 in the 12-9 Fireballs win. The Fireballs go to 52-52, putting them 4th in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
Had Rafiq not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Rafiq hit a 3-run home run. The Fireballs never looked back after taking the 12-9 lead.
"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Rafiq said.
