Ryunosuke Chikafuji could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Peoria Caterpillars lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Bronx Bombers at Bronx Ballpark. Chris Riddle got the win, improving to 1-3. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Juan Manuel earned the save for Bronx, his 23rd of the year.
Bronx designated hitter Jorge Guerrero made his contribution to the Bombers cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning. For the day, Guerrero went 1-3.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Guerrero said.
After today's action, Bronx sits at 39-58, while Peoria falls to 40-57.
