Late Magic Gets Antioch 5-1 Win
|
Paul Groulx never let the Raiders get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Coal Miners to a 5-1 win. Antioch reliever Manuel Sánchez got the win, raising his record to 5-4. Norberto Barjona was tagged with the loss. The Coal Miners, at 49-49, sit in third place in the Blake Camden League B.J. Birdie League.
José Rea in the top of the eighth had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Coal Miners leading 2-1, the Antioch designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
In comments to the Antioch Times, Rea insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
