Coal Miners Hang 10-6 Loss on Bombers
|
The Antioch Coal Miners powered past the Bronx Bombers, 10-6, at Bronx Ballpark. Alonso Rosas was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, to lead the charge. Antioch reliever Manuel Sánchez picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Trent Harwood shouldered the loss. The save went to Eric Markle, his 2nd this season.
José Rea went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once against the Bombers. In the top of the first inning, he hit a sacrifice fly, putting Antioch in front, 1-0.
In postgame remarks, Rea said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
Antioch, at 45-46, occupies third place in the Blake Camden League B.J. Birdie League.
