Coal Miners Win at Vancouver, 5-2
|
Antioch and Vancouver met at Stanley Park in front of a lively crowd.
The Vancouver Canadians went down to defeat to Paul Groulx and his Antioch teammates. The final score was 5-2 in favor of the Coal Miners. Groulx went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-3. Javier Galindo earned the save for Antioch, his 3rd.
Antioch catcher Douglas Dannattet made his contribution to the Coal Miners cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning. For the day, Dannattet went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Groulx said after the game.
The 'W' lifts Antioch's record to 43-45.
