Fireballs Walk Off with Win
|
The Pasadena Bumblebees were defeated, 9-8, by the Joplin Fireballs. Leading the charge for Joplin was shortstop Edgardo Chávez. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 4 runs. Joplin reliever Balamitra Sriramesh picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Hulusi Mumcu was saddled with the loss. Joplin is in 5th place in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division with a record of 41-46.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Joplin trailing 8-7, Víctor Figueroa hit a fastball from Hulusi Mumcu to left for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Fireballs had a walk-off win.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Chávez.
