The Peoria Caterpillars beat the Minneapolis Freeze, 12-0, at The Ice Box. The Caterpillars got a fine performance from designated hitter Ajyapa Vijayarangan, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The last-place Caterpillars now have a win-loss record of 34-50.

Jeff Nelson contributed to the Peoria win. The 26-year old third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, Nelson went 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Nelson told the Peoria Gazette.
