Detroit beat Joplin, 4-3. The win in part was due to right fielder Jack McDonald, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Cheng-en Huang recorded his 12th save for Detroit. The Death Stars raised their record to 53-29.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when catcher Valentín Velasco hit a run-scoring single. The Death Stars went on to win.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," McDonald said after the game.
