Big Day at the Plate for Hilder Not Enough
|
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Richard Hilder, the Bronx Bombers suffered a 8-5 loss to the Omaha Raptors. Hilder hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jason Engel got the save, the 19th for him this season. The Raptors, at 34-47, sit in last place in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
Jim Unknown came through for Omaha when he hit a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a first pitch cutter to right-center field, staking his team to a 5-2 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Unknown told the Omaha Gazette.
