Philadelphia and Joplin got after it at The Bell.

Joplin first baseman Tamotsu Yamashita had a good game, even if his team did not. The Fireballs dropped a 10-7 decision to Philadelphia at The Bell. Yamashita went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Philadelphia reliever Tuan Mai was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Gerard Kotas took the loss for Joplin.

With Philadelphia trailing 6-5 and a runner on 2nd, the Freedom fortunes got a boost when catcher Mutsuhito Yamamoto turned a first pitch cutter from Gerard Kotas into his 3rd home run of the season. The hit scored 2 and put Philadelphia up, 7-6.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Philadelphia skipper Dan Jones. "It's important to have different ways to do it."

Philadelphia is now 38-42, Joplin 39-41.
