Benefiting from the performance of Irving Bryant, the Detroit Death Stars defeated the Astoria Argonauts, 6-5. Bryant was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Death Stars. At 52-29, Detroit is in first place in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
Jack McDonald brought the hometown crowd to its feet with two out in the bottom of the first. That's when the 28-year old right fielder belted a 2-run home run. With the round-tripper, the Death Stars took the lead, 2-0.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Bryant told the Detroit News.
