The Joplin Fireballs grabbed a 8-2 win over the Bronx Bombers at The Firepit. Joplin center fielder Víctor Figueroa was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Gerard Kotas was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Michinaga Sato recorded the save for Joplin, his 1st of the season.

Edgardo Chávez's at-bat in the bottom of the second inning was a big one for Joplin. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Joplin leading 1-0, the shortstop drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"Nervous? No," said Chávez. "It was my time to shine."

The Fireballs improve their record to 37-38 with the win over Bronx.
