Caterpillars Fall Short, 3-2, at Detroit
The bats were silent much of the day at The Death Star. But Jack McDonald conjured up just enough offense to carry the Death Stars past the Peoria Caterpillars, 3-2. McDonald went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Detroit starter Ánibal Altichioro was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 7-4. Cheng-en Huang earned the save for Detroit, his 9th of the year.

One important at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing Peoria hurler Mark Stevenson, Luis Antonio Cota drew a walk. The Death Stars went on to win.
