The Peoria Caterpillars scored a 5-4 win versus the Joplin Fireballs at The Firepit. Peoria pitcher Evan Blandford nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Peoria is now 30-38, while Joplin is 35-32.
One significant plate appearance for Peoria came with two out in the top of the sixth inning. Caterpillars second baseman Clyde Wrixon hit a run-scoring single, which helped Peoria go on to win.
"It feels good to get this one," Blandford told the Peoria Gazette.
