The Omaha Raptors wasted an inspired, 7.1-inning effort from starter Jesús Castillo, falling 2-1 to the Detroit Death Stars at The Death Star. Jason Atkinson was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Cheng-en Huang locked down his 6th save.
Luis Cruz did the little things right to help the team for Detroit. The 26-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jesús Castillo. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"The old adage is true," said Cruz. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Detroit is now 43-22, 5˝ games up in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
