Chicago Topples Billings, 5-4
|
Billings right fielder Xing-peng Ran was sensational. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Chicago beat the Mustangs, 5-4. Ran was named the player of the game despite the loss. Chicago reliever Ayan Osewe picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Tony Varela shouldered the loss. Jason Hunter recorded the save for Chicago, his 11th of the season.
Chicago took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Jaswant Ghosal hit a clutch solo home run to bring Titans fans to their feet.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Billings manager Keith Irwin said following the tough loss.
After today's action, Chicago sits at 25-41, while Billings falls to 42-23.
