Mustangs Stymie Cabo San Lucas, Take 4-1 Win
|
The Mustangs faced a stiff challenge from Cabo San Lucas pitcher Bruce Lowe, but persevered to claim a win at McNichols Stadium. The final score was 4-1. Lowe went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Brett Beck earned the win to go to 1-2. He allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Aaron Taylor got the save, the 5th for him this season.
Going deep for Mile High was Bartolo Valentín. The right fielder had a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth for the Mustangs. It put his team ahead, 2-1, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Valentín went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Valentín.
Even with the win, it has been a disastrous start to the year for the Mustangs, who once had aspirations of returning to the playoffs but now find themselves mired in last place at 8-17.
