Raiders, Gallegos Pin Bad Loss on Caterpillars
|
The Reno Raiders easily defeated the Peoria Caterpillars, 12-1, at House of Pain, with left fielder Liberio Gallegos a main contributor to the win. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 for Reno. Guo-quiang Zhào, the winner, improved to 4-6. He held Peoria to 1 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. Reno, at 28-35, sits in 6th place in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
In the bottom of the first inning, Reno got a break when Gallegos went to the plate. With one out, runners on 1st and 2nd and the Raiders leading 1-0, Gallegos hit a 3-run home run.
"I really like what we did out there today," Gallegos said after the game.
