The So Cal Republic defeated the Minnesota Berserkers, 11-4, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Frozen Tundra. Lúcio Nájera received player of the game honors. The 9-year veteran went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Masafumi Tamura picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 4-1. It was the 20th win in 26 games this year for the defending champion Republic, who are picking up where they left off.
Nájera in the top of the third had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Republic leading 5-0, he hit a grand slam.
"I like the roll we're on right now," said Nájera after the game.
