Mustangs Topple Fireballs with Late Rally
The Mustangs had to overcome a good performance from Joplin pitcher Stephen Pearson to claim a 6-2 win at Cobb Field. Pearson went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Reliever Diego Castro picked up the win. His record improves to 4-1. Abalendu Sourabh took the loss. Billings, at 35-20, sits in first place in the Blake Camden League B.J. Birdie League.

Had Mendel Israel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Israel hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Mustangs.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Israel said after the game.
