Death Stars Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Titans
|
The Death Stars faced a stiff challenge from Chicago pitcher Alistair Lymer, but persevered to claim a win at The Death Star. The final score was 4-3. Lymer went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Detroit leads the Blake Camden League Youppi Division by 3½ games.
Had Valentín Velasco not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Velasco hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Death Stars.
"This is a very good team," said Velasco. "We have the chance to do something special."
