Bombers Win at Antioch, 8-3
|
Bronx and Antioch met at The Coal Mine in front of a lively crowd.
The Bronx Bombers bested the Antioch Coal Miners by a score of 8-3, with first baseman António Collado getting the main credit. On the day, Collado went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Bombers. Al Bates, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 4-5.
Collado had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a grand slam. The Bombers went on to win.
"Feels good to get the job done," Collado said after the game.
Bronx goes to 24-29, Antioch to 22-31.
