Philadelphia pitcher António Navarro did his part in helping his team beat the Pasadena Bumblebees, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Jesús Moreno got the save, the 4th for him this season. The 6th-place Freedom improved to 22-30.
The Freedom beat the Bumblebees in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Danny Griggs produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Pasadena pitcher Tae-geun Cho, Griggs gave his team a 4-3 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Griggs. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
