Big Day by Veerender Ignites Bumblebees Win
Jaideva Veerender added some punch to the Pasadena offense, helping them outmuscle the Philadelphia Freedom, 9-7. In the game, Veerender belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. The winner was Ji Sheng, who threw 103 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. Hulusi Mumcu closed the game out for Pasadena, earning his 9th save.

Veerender contributed when he hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth. Coming with one out and the bases loaded, the home run proved to be critical to helping Pasadena get the win.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Veerender said. "We did a pretty good job of that today."

With the win over Philadelphia, the Bumblebees improved to 26-26.
