Mustangs Stay Hot With 5-2 Win
|
The Billings Mustangs had to overcome a big game from Reno third baseman Javier Cortés to leave House of Pain with a 5-2 victory. Cortés went 4-5 with 4 singles. Billings starter Amayas Nyamu was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 5-1. Davis Marés was credited with the save for Billings, his 14th of the season.
Jung-tae Ko's at-bat in the top of the fourth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 1-1. The Billings shortstop hit a run-scoring double off Elmer Turner to put the Mustangs up.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Keith Irwin.
The wins continue to add up for Billings, with the latest making it 7 in a row.
