The Beavers had to overcome a fine performance from Jacksonville pitcher John Holmes to grab a 3-2 win at Skellington Stadium. Holmes allowed 2 earned runs over 8 innings. Iván Morales got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 11 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Toyotomi Nakano finished the game for Portland and earned his 5th save.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Luis Ricciardi came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Jacksonville pitcher Hariz Sahir, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Portland on top, 3-2.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Portland skipper Ryan Blandford. "It's important to have different ways to do it."

The Jacks fall to 12-13 and continue their wobbly start to the 2028 season.
