Freeze Come Up Short at Vancouver
The Vancouver Canadians turned back the Minneapolis Freeze, 5-4, at Stanley Park. Rafael Cruz was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Ernesto Villegas got the win, improving to 3-0. He held the Freeze to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Félix Reina closed the door for Vancouver, picking up his 8th save of the year.

Cruz contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Vancouver in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Cruz took a fastball from Ho Chang and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Canadians to leap in front, 2-1.

"This is truly a great team to play with," Cruz said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."

Vancouver bumps their record to 24-13 with the win.
