Caterpillars Solve Death Stars, 5-3
|
The Peoria Caterpillars picked up a win at The Cave at Barton Springs, knocking off the Detroit Death Stars, 5-3. On the mound for Peoria was right-hander Paul Hicks, who played a pivotal role in the win. Hicks, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. The save went to Hua Tann, his 9th this season.
Peoria took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Aziz Sanchez stroked a 2-run single to make it 5-3, Caterpillars.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Sanchez.
The third-place Caterpillars now have a win-loss record of 16-18.
