Canadians Edge Pasadena in Pitching Duel
|
In a well-pitched game between the Vancouver Canadians and the Pasadena Bumblebees, pitcher Fernando López was fantastic. The Vancouver left-hander was named the player of the game in Vancouver's 1-0 win. In 6 innings, López surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Félix Reina nailed down his 6th save.
The Canadians beat the Bumblebees in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Scotty Hudson produced in the top of the first. Batting against Pasadena pitcher Barend Bilderbeek, Hudson gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring double.
"I was a little disappointed," said Pasadena manager Eric Walker. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Vancouver has now won 4 straight, while the Bumblebees have lost 3 in a row.
