Bronx got a terrific game from left fielder Darren Payne. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Billings, 7-6. Payne was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Rubén Cabrera got the win, improving to 5-2. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. The second-place Mustangs have won 4 straight.
Jean Lemercier chipped in for Billings, stroking a crucial 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, the third baseman went 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
