The Caterpillars had to overcome a fine performance from Philadelphia pitcher António Navarro to grab a 7-1 win at The Bell. Navarro allowed 3 earned runs over 8 innings. Peoria reliever Edolf Switzer got the win, raising his record to 2-1. António Navarro was tagged with the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Pedro Gravina.
In the top of the second, Carlos Souza had a big 2-run single off António Navarro. With the single, the Peoria third baseman put his team in front, 2-0. He was 1 for 3 with a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 in the contest.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Souza told the Peoria Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
The loss drops Philadelphia to 15-16.
