Loss Extends Chicago Losing Streak
|
The Omaha Raptors beat the Chicago Titans, 8-5, at The War Dome. The Raptors got a fine performance from right fielder Bob O'Moriartie, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Omaha reliever António López picked up the win to move to 1-1. Orlando Marés suffered the loss. Mehdi Bayle got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Gateshead, England-born Alan Markham came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Raptors trailing 5-3, he hit a 3-run home run to left-center to put Omaha on top.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Chicago skipper Chris Carpenter.
The Titans fall to 9-19 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2028 season.
