Bombers Turn Back Reno, 8-6
|
The Bronx Bombers downed the Reno Raiders, 8-6, at Bronx Ballpark. The Bombers were led by David Vickerson, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Bronx starter Bob Alexander was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Albert Giles earned the save for Bronx, his 1st.
The Bombers got a big at-bat from shortstop Michael Krause. For the game, Krause went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 18th hit of the season gave Bronx a 5-3 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Vickerson.
The Raiders fall to 10-17 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2028 season.
