Detroit starter Ánibal Altichioro put a stranglehold on the Minneapolis offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Death Stars to a 4-1 win. Carl Pollard earned the save for Detroit, his 8th of the year. The win was the 15th in 20 games this season for the Death Stars, who appear to be on course for a return trip to the playoffs.

Bo Bing came through for Detroit in the top of the second. With one out, Bing victimized Sylvester Richardson with a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put Detroit on top, 1-0.

Bing called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
