Pasadena right-hander Ji Sheng helped his team edge Detroit by the score of 2-1. Sheng kept the opposing lineup in check. Sheng got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Sheng allowed 1 earned run. Chong-su Yi earned the save, his 7th.

Al Courtney's at-bat in the top of the sixth inning was a big one for Pasadena. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 1st and 2nd and Pasadena leading 1-0, the third baseman hit a run-scoring single.
