Mustangs Fall to Figueroa, Fireballs

The Joplin Fireballs did just enough to sneak past the Billings Mustangs, 5-4, at The Firepit. Joplin right fielder Víctor Figueroa earned player of the game honors. Liu-chun Ren picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 4 in 6.1 innings. Getting the save was Balamitra Sriramesh, his 5th.
Abraha Rafiq contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It was one at-bat that helped Joplin get the win.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Keith Irwin. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
With the loss, Billings is 8-10.
