Canadians Subdue Antioch, 6-4
|
The Vancouver Canadians had to overcome a big game from Antioch shortstop Tim Steele to leave Stanley Park with a 6-4 victory. Steele went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Reliever Alfonso Carrasco picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Javier Franco took the loss. Earning his 3rd save for Vancouver was Félix Reina.
Vancouver took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Rafael Cruz hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Canadians fans to their feet.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Cruz said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
The Canadians, now 8-2, have stormed out of the gates.
