The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at The Death Star enjoyed themselves.

Bronx second baseman Eric Swinney had a terrific game. He went 4-5 with 4 singles, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Detroit beat the Bombers, 5-3. Swinney was named the player of the game despite the loss. Detroit starter Takeji Ogawa was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Carl Pollard earned his 5th save in 5 tries.

Jason Barrett had a big run-scoring triple for the Death Stars in the bottom of the third inning. With Detroit trailing 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Al Bates and stroked the triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Death Stars ahead, 3-2.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Detroit manager Mitchell Drover.

The Death Stars, now 8-3, have hit the ground running this season.
