Death Stars Rally to Eke Out Win
The Detroit Death Stars scored a 4-3 win versus the Philadelphia Freedom at The Death Star. Detroit pitcher Maurice Hesmondhalgh nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. The Death Stars, now 6-3, have been on a roll in the early going.

Late in the game, catcher Valentín Velasco had a big at-bat for Detroit. In the bottom of the 14th, he hit a run-scoring single off Sixto Ríos. The play gave the Death Stars a 4-3 lead.

"If we keep winning the close games" said Hesmondhalgh, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
