Freedom Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
Philadelphia shortstop José Guzmán played a vital role in his team's 6-5 triumph over Bronx. He was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Philadelphia. Philadelphia reliever Paulus van Zundert picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Al Bates shouldered the loss. The loss lowers the Bronx record to 3-3.

Guzmán had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the third when the 24-year old shortstop hit a 2-run home run. The home run gave Philadelphia the lead, 3-1. It was his 1st home run of the season.

"If we keep winning the close games" said Guzmán, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
