The Joplin Fireballs electrified the home crowd at The Firepit with a walk-off win.

Joplin center fielder John Haley made his presence felt in the 7-6 Fireballs triumph over the Detroit Death Stars. Haley was 2-3 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Joplin reliever Balamitra Sriramesh picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Lorenzo Ortega was saddled with the loss.

Yasser bin Rashad said the idea of hitting a home run crossed his mind when he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth. bin Rashad belted a solo home run to stake Joplin to a 7-6 lead. His 1st home run of the season came off Detroit pitcher Lorenzo Ortega.

"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Haley. "Maybe this win will help."

The Fireballs, with just their 2nd win so far in 2028, have yet to catch fire.
