Detroit second baseman Hsui-chen Shui had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 8-5 win over the Joplin Fireballs. Detroit reliever John Powell was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Abalendu Sourabh took the loss. The win takes Detroit to 3-2.

Contributing to the Detroit win was Jack McDonald. In the top of the seventh, the 27-year old right fielder had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 5-4, the Death Stars in front.

"I felt good up there," said McDonald. "I saw the ball well."
