The Detroit Death Stars and Joplin Fireballs completed their game despite the rain.
The Detroit Death Stars knocked off the Joplin Fireballs, 5-3. Detroit starter Maurice Hesmondhalgh pitched well enough to earn top player honors. Hesmondhalgh went the distance for Detroit. He gave up 3 runs on 2 hits.
Early in the game, right fielder Jason Barrett had a 2-run single for Detroit. It was his 6th hit of the season and put the Death Stars on top, 5-3.
"I felt good even in the late innings," said Hesmondhalgh after the game.
